Welcome to the Salinas Police Officers Association

The S.P.O.A. has been in operation for decades but this web site is a first for us. Our goal for the web site is to provide a modern means of communication for our members and our community. We believe this site will provide the information and tools needed to more effectively communicate with the S.P.O.A. Board of Directors. In addition to the web site, we have also established new phone numbers for the organization and the individual Board Members. Please feel free to contact us with your questions, comments and concerns.

In October of 2008, I was elected President of the S.P.O.A. for 2008 through 2010. In the past, I have served on the board as a general board member and Vice President. On both of those occasions I found serving on the S.P.O.A. board to be both challenging and rewarding and I believe the next 2 years will pose even greater challenges and rewards. I have already been rewarded with extremely talented and enthusiastic S.P.O.A. board members who are devoted to improving our organization and our relationship with our community. This web site is just one example of the dedication and hard work of the board members with which I serve.

Some of the obstacles the S.P.O.A. face in the near future include, but are certainly not limited to: the City finding and hiring a new Police Chief, overcoming city budget shortfalls, under-staffing and increased gang violence. I believe that with the input and involvement of our members, these challenges will be met with the professionalism and devotion to duty that has long been the standard of this organization. As each of us work toward resolving these problems, we hope to gain the much needed support and assistance of our community. Ways in which the community can help include: voicing opinions at City Council meetings, speaking to individual Council members, supporting bonds and measures that aid public safety agencies and reporting crimes when they occur.

The S.P.O.A. is a non-profit organization that donates to a number of charitable organizations and Police Department activities. Our organization receives a portion of our funds from sponsoring events that benefit the community. We will list those events on our web site and we hope that the community will show their support by attending these events whenever possible.
